Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Writer
Writers are valuable treasures in every culture. Writers throughout the ages have recorded history for us, educated us with their writing, entertained us, and baffled us with their words. Writers are exceptional, irreplaceable, and unique. They are admired, esteemed, and respected.
Being a writer has advantages and disadvantages. I believe the rewards of being a writer far outweigh the disadvantages.
Here are Some Advantages:

You can express yourself.
You can touch the hearts of your readers.
You can teach others how to do things.
You can inspire and encourage your readers.
Work in any location.
Work anytime you choose.
Work only when the creativity flows.
Be your boss and manage your own business as an authorpreneur.
Potential to make a great deal of money.
Freelance writing is always an option to generate more income.
You can tell your story your way.
Work as long as you want.
Control your own time.
When you are passionate about writing, all you want is to complete the project you’re working on. To take advantage of all the benefits above. However, you should be aware of all the different aspects of writing. I’ve listed some of the disadvantages of being a writer below.
Here are Some Disadvantages:
Writing is hard work, and it is challenging.
Writers are not always inspired or even in the mood to write.
Writing is time-consuming. Especially if you are writing a novel.
Writer’s block hits all writers. Creativity does not always flow.
Lack of inspiration. (Stress, time constraints, being overwhelmed, etc.)
You must be able to handle criticism.
There is a great deal of competition. Zero in on a niche. Find your passion.
No job benefits, retirement plan or health insurance.
Must keep tax records and pay self-employment taxes.
You may have to work long hours to meet a deadline.
Sporadic income.
Time spent alone can be hard for some people.
Frustrating to your family and friends.
Writing is mostly about passion. It is about doing something you love and want to do. Writing for pleasure, like journaling, blogging, etc., is fun. It is therapeutic, it can help relieve stress, and help you enjoy life a little more. And for some writing is a career. Their motivation is to inform, educate, reveal, share facts, entertain, etc…
